North Evia festival
Music till the forest is back!
Culture and the natural environment to us are indivisible.
A music festival in honor of the forest of North Evia that was lost in the devastating fires of 2021, for the forests that are regenerating, for all the forests that were lost and all the forests still existing, echoing their inestimable value.*
Following the first successful festival’s edition in Rovies and Limni of North Evia in the summer of 2022, the North Evia Festival returns this year in July, for five days full of music workshops, excursions and activities in the natural beauties of the region, and concerts open to everyone, in coexistence with the local community.
Our goal is for the festival to travel from year to year to a different location, supporting thus the northern part of the island with the transformative power of music. So this year, we are meeting in the Municipality of Istiaia-Edipsos, at Psaropouli beach!
There, the suggested music workshops will be held daily in selected outdoor locations which, later in the day, will be the base for our explorations and optional excursions. In the evenings, in addition to the impromptu, spontaneous participatory performances, two unique concerts will be held in the squares of two neighboring, distinct villages: in Vasilika (Municipality of Istiaia-Edipsos) and Evia Forest Village (Municipality of Mantoudi-Limni-Agia Anna).
Our vision and will is for the festival to evolve over time and become an integral part of the cultural life of the island, contributing to the creation of a community whose members will be connected by their common love for music and nature.
-The festival is organized by the non-profit organization olipoli, with the support of the J. F. Costopoulos Foundation, and in collaboration with the Municipalities of North Evia, the Municipality of Istiaia-Aidipsos and the Municipality of Mantoudi-Limni-Agia Anna, as well as and the movement of volunteers and citizens of North Evia, the Forest Voice.
*The choice of North Evia where the festival started and continues as a means of expressing our solidarity through music, arose due to the origin of a founding member of olipoli NGO of the small town of Istiaia, and the annual stay of the festival organizers in this place in the year 2021-2022, just one month after the tragic disaster took place.
