Five female voices from different regions of Italy come together in Thessaloniki for a concert dedicated to polyphony and the musical traditions of the Mediterranean and beyond.
Kalikó was formed in 2024 by Caterina Dollorenzo, Chiara Annunziata, Cristiana De Bonis, Laura Collu and Sofia Valentini. Drawing on the musical traditions of Southern Italy, the five singers create a rich polyphonic soundscape that embraces songs from the Balkans, Latin America, Réunion Island and other parts of the world.
Alongside their core a cappella repertoire, the concert features pieces accompanied by organetto (diatonic accordion), guitar and traditional percussion. Bringing together diverse vocal and instrumental textures, Kalikó creates a musical journey connecting Southern Italy with the Mediterranean and musical traditions from across the globe.
