A co-production of the Department of Music Science & Art of the PAMAK with the Anopolis World Music Festival.
The historic venue of Agios Nikolaos Orphanos, in the Upper Town of Thessaloniki, will embrace for the second consecutive year the creative coexistence of the university music community of the TMET and the Anopolis World Music Festival, so that young and promising musicians and artists studying traditional instruments in our city can present their work alongside professional musicians and organizers.
The two-day program consists of a modular concert program, with one musical ensemble succeeding the other, presenting the audience with different artistic approaches to the modern and older musical traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Greek region, as well as "fresh" readings of this repertoire, in interaction with the new musical trends of our time.
Artistic Curation: Students of the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the TMET/PAMAK
Artistic Coordination of the two-day event: Thymios Atzakas, Vasilis Ziggeridis, Sakis Laios, Socrates Sinopoulos

This title emerges from the depths of the experiences and melodies that I have collected from the places where I grew up. Through my own perspective, I invite you on a musical journey where, in the company of beloved musicians and friends, we will perform two of my original compositions, as well as one more by a beloved teacher and artist, who has left an indelible mark on my musical career.

FRIDAY JUNE 6
19.00 – 19.30:
“Compositions and Reorganizations of Edvâr-ı mûsikî”
- Lydia Roumelioti: kanunaki, orchestration
- Vasilis Nenes: oud
The duo draws its repertoire from the collection of Dimitrios Kantemiris’ treatise, Edvâr-ı mûsikî. Reorganizing selected works, based on elements of Renaissance European polyphony on the one hand and a contemporary look at tropical music on the other, the duo presents compositions of 17th-century Ottoman court music, with a different aesthetic approach.
19.30 – 20.00:
“T’ Armenitsas”
- Christos Moysiadis: Pontic lyra, orchestration
- Pelagia Giahoudi: outi
- Vasilis Avgitidis: percussion
- Panagiotis Pantelidis: flute
T’ Armenitsas is a traditional dance from the region of Trebizond. Its title, which means “of the Armenian woman”, shows the familiarity that the Greeks of Pontus had acquired with the neighboring Armenian people. The pieces that will be heard are from these two folk traditions. Some titles are even common to the Armenian and Pontic languages. The aim is to show the beauty of these two traditions, through a comparative performance that highlights both their similarities and differences.
20.00 – 20.45:
"Ortak Toprak – Koini Gi"
- Onur Şentürk: sazi, Pontic lyra, voice
- Valasia Dontoulou: voice, bendir
- Lefteris Navrozidis: oud
- Stelios Pantechis: political lyra
Four musicians with different musical backgrounds find common ground in songs and motifs from the Eastern Mediterranean. Through their personal references and their collective perspective, they create a common sound that speaks to tradition and continues its course into the present day.
